01 · Why
Width that sounds good in stereo may not survive mono.
A spacious sound in the control room is appealing. Corr Matrix Pro 4.1.0 helps answer a different question before export: how much of that width survives on phones, Bluetooth speakers and mono systems?
01
Wide in stereo, thin in mono
Phase cancellation becomes apparent on mono, Bluetooth and phone speakers. Overall correlation may already be dangerously negative while a conventional level meter tells you little about it.
02
Loudness can be on target while true peak exceeds the limit
Short-term loudness describes the density of a passage; True Peak watches reconstructed peaks. Together they show whether added loudness has consumed delivery headroom.
03
Brief phase problems are easy to miss on ordinary meters
Bass cancellation, misaligned midrange overdubs and excessive high-frequency widening may last only a moment. Thirty-one bands provide more direction than one overall correlation meter.
